Description | Annotation: The objective of the course is to assist the 1st year Magisterial Program students in understanding the fundamental principles of continuum theory. The course is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the basic continuum theory while the second one covers certain portions of specific areas of applications. Following initial lectures with mathematics relevant to the subject, the theory portion contains material on the analysis of stress, deformation and strain, motion and flow, and fundamental laws of continuum. Applications cover the fields of elasticity, fluids, plasticity and viscoelasticity. |
